Community Spotlight: CommissionTrac
Today’s community spotlight features Turner Levison (CEO) and Jordan Everts (Director Customer Success) of CommissionTrac speaking with us about their cloud based commercial real estate accounting platform and their experience with SharedSpace over the past year.
1. When and why did you start CommissionTrac?
We started CommissionTrac in 2015, after realizing spreadsheets were not the answer for CRE Commission Accounting. In the past few months we’ve progressed from development to a trusted and efficient platform to help brokerages manage their commission distributions and automate the required accounting journal entries.
2. How has your business grown since you started it?
We started working at SharedSpace while were still in the infancy of our developmental stage. Over the past year at SharedSpace, we’ve had the opportunity to both grow our business and our team, and now we’re onboarding new clients and getting them set up tracking commissions. I can definitively say that both SharedSpace and CommissionTrac have grown together, and we benefit from our shared successes!
3. What’s the best advice you would give to someone trying to start their own company?
What are you waiting for? The world needs more entrepreneurs solving problems and making the world a better place. If you’re curious what it looks like, take a day off “work” and come hang out at SharedSpace for a day, you’ll leave with the entrepreneurial itch… I promise. The spirit here is infectious.
4. What makes SharedSpace a good fit for your business?
We’ve been with SharedSpace since the beginning of both our companies, so we know the true meaning of “share your success”. At SharedSpace, we’re able to work quietly in our office, give demos in conference rooms, talk with our developers in India and China, all without leaving the office or buying new supplies. SharedSpace knows what we need and how we do business, vital in creating an office presence and working effectively!
5. If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
If I were an animal I’d most definitely be a hyena. From an outside perspective I may seem intimidating or wild, but my fierce loyalty to my friends and kin is immediately apparent . I’m fierce about securing success for both myself, CommissionTrac and for the people in my cackle. And yes, a group of hyenas is called a cackle!
